Why It Matters
2028 Has Its Own Lineup
Our 2026 and 2027 special dates guide is one of the most-read pages on this site, and couples planning further ahead keep asking the same question: what about 2028? The answer is a strong year. It has a full-date palindrome (8/20/2028), a ten-day palindrome run in August with exactly one Saturday, a leap day you can only marry on once every four years, and an 11/11 that falls on a Saturday.
These dates matter in Las Vegas because they’re the days people actually line up for. The day before 8/8/08, Clark County issued 964 marriage licenses, 3.7 times a normal day that year. The day before 2/22/22 it issued 933, more than four times normal. See the full history in our Las Vegas marriage statistics. Every weekday and numerology sum below has been calculated and checked, so you can shortlist with confidence.
Section One
Palindrome Perfection: August 20–29, 2028
Written M/DD/YY, all ten dates read the same forwards and backwards: 8/20/28 is “82028”, 8/29/28 is “82928”.

The Weekend Pick
8/26/28 — The Only Saturday Palindrome
If you want a palindrome and a Saturday, this is the one date in 2028 that gives you both. The digits add to 1, the number of new beginnings. Late August is hot, so book a ceremony near sunset (about 7:15 PM) when the desert cools and the light turns gold.

Monday
Double Pattern
8/28/28 — Palindrome Meets XX/28/28
“82828” is a palindrome and an XX/28/28 date at once, with 8s and 2s alternating all the way through. It's the 2028 counterpart to 7/27/27. A Monday, so weekday rates apply.
Aug 22
Tuesday
Triple 2
8/22/28 — Three 2s in a Row
“82228” stacks three 2s, the number of partnership, in the middle of a palindrome. The date adds to 6, the number of love and family.

Full-Date Palindrome
8/20/2028 — The Complete Palindrome
Written in full, “8202028” reads the same both ways, the only complete-date palindrome of 2028 and the follow-up to 6/20/2026 and 7/20/2027. The digits add to 22, a master number. A Sunday, so it works for a weekend wedding without the Saturday crowd.

Friday
Friday Night
8/25/28 — The Friday Palindrome
The only Friday in the run, the night before 8/26. Pair it with a weekend in Las Vegas for your guests.

The Rest
The Rest of the Run
8/21, 8/23, 8/24, 8/27, 8/29
Monday the 21st, Wednesday the 23rd, Thursday the 24th, Sunday the 27th, and Tuesday the 29th. Each is a true palindrome, and all but the Sunday are easier to book than the weekend.
One more short-form palindrome
8/2/28 (“8228”) on Wednesday, August 2 also reads the same both ways. After 8/20/2028, the next complete-date palindrome is Thursday, 9/20/2029.

Section Two
Leap Day: February 29, 2028
Tuesday · 2/29/28
Once every four years. A wedding date only one in about 1,460 days can match. It falls after Mercury turns direct on February 14, so it's clear of the first 2028 retrograde.
The numbers
Adds to 7. In numerology, 7 is depth, devotion, and inner connection, a good fit for a small, private ceremony. Sunset is around 5:35 PM, early enough for a dinner after.
The anniversary
Choose your off-year date. Most leap-day couples celebrate on February 28 or March 1 in between, then go big every fourth year. Your 4th anniversary will be your first “real” one.
An old leap-day tradition
In Irish and Scottish folklore, February 29 was the one day a woman could propose. Plenty of modern couples like that story, whoever did the asking.
Section Three
Repeating Rhythms in 2028
Dates where the month and day repeat. They're easy to remember and read the same in US and day-first order.
Saturday · 11/11/28
The standout of the year. The master number 11 twice, on a Saturday, in early November, one of the best months for desert weather. Sunset is about 4:35 PM. The day before 11/11/11, Clark County issued 1,427 licenses, the second-busiest day in its records.
Tuesday · 8/8/28
Luck and infinity. Two 8s, the number of abundance, and the digits add to 1. A Tuesday in summer heat, so book a sunrise or evening ceremony.
Tuesday · 2/22/28
Three 2s. Partnership times three, echoing 2/22/22. It's after Mercury turns direct on February 14, in cool late-winter weather.
Tuesday · 12/12/28
Double 12s. Elegant symmetry in the holiday season, when the Strip is decorated and the desert air is crisp.
Wednesday · 2/2/28
Two 2s. A partnership date. It falls inside the first Mercury retrograde of 2028, if that matters to you.
Tuesday · 10/10/28
Double 10s. Crisp and balanced, in peak fall season. It's the last full day of the September–October Mercury retrograde, which turns direct October 11.
Section Four
The XX/28/28 Dates
Every date on the 28th echoes the year. Only one of them is a Saturday.

Saturday
The Saturday
10/28/28 — Halloween Weekend
The only Saturday XX/28/28 date, three days before Halloween, in prime fall weather. It adds to 5, the number of adventure. Mercury has been direct since October 11.

Friday Nights
1/28/28 · 4/28/28 · 7/28/28
Three Friday XX/28/28 dates. April 28 is the pick: spring wildflower season, before Venus turns retrograde on May 10. 7/28/28 adds to 11, a master number.
May 28
Sunday
Memorial Day Weekend
5/28/28
The Sunday of Memorial Day weekend, so guests get Monday off to travel home. It does fall inside the 2028 Venus retrograde.

Day-First Readers
Reading These Dates Day-First
The palindromes don't travel
In the UK, Ireland, Australia, India, and most of Europe, the day comes first. Read that way, 8/26/28 isn't a date (there's no month 26), and no full-year day/month/year palindrome exists in 2028.
Matching dates work everywhere
2/2/28, 8/8/28, 11/11/28, and 12/12/28 read identically in both orders. For an international guest list, these are the safest choice.
8/2/28 is a palindrome both ways
“8228” reads the same either way. It just means August 2 in the US and 8 February day-first, so put the month in words on your invitations.
Before You Book
Check the 2028 Astrology Calendar
2028 is the opposite of 2027: Venus does turn retrograde. If astrology matters to you, screen your date against these windows.
Venus retrograde · May 10 – Jun 22
The transit electional astrologers most often tell couples to avoid. None of the headline dates above fall in it, but 5/28/28 does.
Mercury retrograde ×3
January 24 – February 14, May 21 – June 14, and September 19 – October 11. 2/2/28 and 10/10/28 fall inside; 2/22, 2/29, 8/26, 10/28, and 11/11 are all clear.
Eclipses
January 12 and 26, July 6 and 22, and December 31. The August palindrome run starts nearly a month after the last summer eclipse.
The best overlap
Saturday 11/11/28 and Saturday 10/28/28 are clear of every retrograde and eclipse window and fall in the best desert weather of the year.
2028 is a 3 year
In numerology, 2+0+2+8 = 12, which reduces to 3: a universal year of joy, expression, and celebration. To see what 2028 means for you personally, read our personal year wedding guide.
