"We had such a beautiful wedding day with LVWC in the Valley of Fire and couldn’t be happier with the whole experience. Everything was perfectly organised from start to finish, and the team was always on time and professional. What we especially appreciated was that we never felt rushed — not during the ceremony and not during the photoshoot. Everything felt relaxed and natural, which made the day even more enjoyable. Everyone was incredibly kind and friendly, and they truly helped make our wedding day special. We would absolutely recommend LVWC to anyone looking for a stress-free and memorable wedding experience!"
"We were already planning to hike Havasupai and decided last minute to get married in Vegas on the way since our flight landed there. I was hesitant to book due to time restraints but Shawn and his fabulous partner made it happen!! Super nice, fantastic, knowledgeable people and we want to say thank you for making our day amazing!!"
"We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect elopement experience! From the very beginning, the communication was outstanding—clear, timely, and incredibly helpful. Every detail was thoughtfully planned, and we felt completely supported throughout the entire process. The location we chose was the Valley of Fire and it was absolutely stunning, and everything came together flawlessly. The ceremony, the photos—every moment felt magical and meaningful. It was intimate, stress-free, and exactly what we had envisioned (and more!). We’re so grateful to the team who helped bring our day to life. Their professionalism, warmth, and attention to detail made this such a special experience that we’ll remember forever. If you’re thinking of eloping in the Valley of Fire, do it—you won’t regret it!"
"Shawn, Candice, Dirk, and Tom made our wedding ceremony in the Valley of Fire a stress-free and magical experience. They handled everything with professionalism and such positive attitudes. We really appreciated how easy the team made everything for us and our guests. We even were pleasantly surprised to hear recordings from our family who couldn't make it wish us well after the ceremony! The photos and video are so beautiful, they represent the beauty of our union and the Seven Sisters incredibly, we couldn't be more pleased with how everything turned out. Thank you!"
"Could not recommend Shawn enough. We didn't have to think about anything, which is exactly what we wanted. They sent clear instructions on how to get our marriage license. We followed the map to Nelson's ghost town (stunning desert scenery) and met Shawn and Carlos, our officiant. The location is stunning. Stop there even if you choose another venue! We got married in the chapel in a wonderful ceremony. Despite not knowing us at all and us giving no guidance, the ceremony was perfect. Shawn knew exactly what was next and was in the perfect place to capture every moment. Thank you, Carlos! Then Shawn expertly guided us through locations and poses, and got stunning candid shots between. He ended asking if there were any other photos we wanted and we couldn't think of one. He was kind, focused, and a great conversationalist between shots. We have over 300 photos and every single one could be framed. Our photos arrived a few days later, sooner than expected. We can download the files and do whatever we want with them. And it's super easy to share the link with family and friends. There isn't a thing I would change about the day. I am so grateful I had Las Vegas Weddings to handle everything so I could have a great vacation and an even better wedding. THANK YOU!"
Getting There
The Extraterrestrial Highway Drive
Rachel sits about 150 miles north of the Strip — roughly 2.5 hours each way via US-93 North and Nevada State Route 375. You ride in a private luxury SUV with your officiant and photographer, and the route itself is half the experience. Here's what you stop for.
Janet Airlines terminal
The private terminal at Harry Reid International where unmarked white 737s ferry workers to Groom Lake every day. Your first stop out of the city.
Alien Jerky
A roadside institution in Baker-meets-Beatty territory — stock up on absurdly branded snacks for the drive north.
Extraterrestrial Highway sign
The official State Route 375 marker, and the most photographed spot on the route. The classic "we got married out here" shot.
Alien Research Center
A 30-foot steel alien standing guard over a metal-shed gift shop on NV-375. Peak desert kitsch.
Little A'Le'Inn
Your ceremony venue and lunch stop — a bar, grill, motel, and UFO museum all in one, run since 1990 and known to every alien enthusiast on earth.
Area 51 perimeter gate
The end of the public road: warning signs, surveillance cameras, and the "camo dudes" watching from the ridge. Photos from this side only.
The Honest Answer
Can You Really Get Married at Area 51?
Not on the base itself — and no one can. Area 51 is an active, restricted section of the Nevada Test and Training Range, and the boundary is closed to the public. What you can do is get married right up against the legend.
Your ceremony is held at the Little A'Le'Inn in Rachel, the closest town to the boundary and the heart of UFO culture in Nevada. Afterward, the tour drives you to the actual Area 51 perimeter gate — warning signs, cameras on poles, and the "camo dudes" watching from the ridge — for photos from the public side of the line. Your guide makes sure everyone stays on the right side of it; crossing is a federal offense.
You'll also need a Nevada marriage license, which you pick up at the Clark County Marriage License Bureau in Las Vegas before you head out. There's no waiting period in Nevada, so the license and the ceremony can happen on the same trip. Prefer to stay closer to the city? Our Sign & Go ceremony and desert elopement are simpler alternatives.

Alien & UFO Wedding Theme Ideas
Cosmic florals
The package bouquet and boutonniere come galaxy-themed — deep-space blues, silvers, and iridescent accents. Ask about adding dyed or preserved blooms for a fully otherworldly palette.
Celestial attire touches
Metallic shoes, a holographic veil, star-map cufflinks, or a constellation-embroidered jacket read perfectly against the raw desert backdrop without going full costume.
Vows across the universe
Couples love working the setting into their words — promises "from here to Groom Lake and back," references to being each other's home planet, a nod to the truth being out there.
Golden-hour and dark-sky photos
Your photographer works the perimeter fence, the highway sign, and the open playa. Time the ceremony near sunset and you can catch both the color and the first stars.

Area 51 Wedding FAQ
Where exactly is the Area 51 wedding ceremony held? +
The ceremony takes place at the iconic Little A'Le'Inn in Rachel, Nevada, on the Extraterrestrial Highway (State Route 375), approximately 150 miles north of Las Vegas. Rachel is the closest town to the Area 51 boundary and the unofficial capital of UFO culture in Nevada.
How far is Area 51 from Las Vegas, and is transportation included? +
Rachel is about 150 miles north of the Strip — roughly a 2.5-hour drive each way via US-93 North and NV-375. Private round-trip luxury SUV transportation from your Las Vegas hotel is included in the $2,699 package, so you never have to drive. The full day runs about 8 hours door to door.
Can you legally get married at Area 51 itself? +
No. Area 51 is an active, restricted military installation on the Nevada Test and Training Range, and the boundary is closed to the public. Your ceremony is held safely and legally at the Little A'Le'Inn in Rachel. The tour does stop at the base perimeter gate for photos, but crossing the marked line is a federal offense — your guide keeps everyone on the right side of it.
Do we need a marriage license, and where do we get it? +
Yes. You'll need a Nevada marriage license from the Clark County Marriage License Bureau in downtown Las Vegas. Nevada has no waiting period and no blood test, so you can get the license and drive out to Rachel on the same trip. See our Las Vegas marriage license guide for hours and requirements.
What is included in the Area 51 Wedding & Tour package? +
The $2,699 all-inclusive package includes private luxury SUV round-trip transportation from Las Vegas, a certified officiant, a professional photographer covering the ceremony and a scenic desert photoshoot, a galaxy-themed bridal bouquet and boutonniere, a post-ceremony meal at the Little A'Le'Inn, and a guided tour with stops at the Janet Airlines terminal, Alien Jerky, the Extraterrestrial Highway sign, the Alien Research Center, and the Area 51 perimeter gate.
How long does the Area 51 wedding experience take? +
The full Area 51 Wedding & Tour is approximately 8 hours, including luxury SUV transportation, scenic stops, the ceremony at Little A'Le'Inn, the post-ceremony meal, and the UFO tour on the Extraterrestrial Highway.
How many guests can come? +
The package covers up to 6 people total in the luxury SUV, including the two of you. It's built for elopements and micro-weddings. Larger groups can be accommodated with additional vehicles — just ask when you reserve.
What is the best time of year for an Area 51 wedding? +
Spring (March–May) and fall (September–November) are ideal: mild afternoons, cool evenings, and soft desert light. Rachel sits at about 4,900 feet, so summer days are hot but dry, and winter mornings can drop near freezing. Ceremonies timed near sunrise or sunset get the most dramatic sky.
What should we wear? +
Bring comfortable footwear — the ground around the highway and perimeter is uneven desert. Pack a layer for the temperature swing between afternoon and evening. The galaxy-themed florals pair beautifully with metallic, iridescent, or celestial-toned accents if you want to lean into the cosmic theme.
Will we actually see the base or any UFOs? +
Groom Lake — the actual airfield — is not visible from any public road, and that's part of the mystique. The experience is about the landscape, the lore, and the landmarks. That said, couples regularly spot military aircraft overhead, and the area has some of the darkest night skies in the country.
